Emirates Flight Catering Facility is located at the Dubai International Airport and was the largest flight catering facility in the world by output producing over 115,000 meals daily. The facility provides in-flight catering and support services to over 130 airlines from across the globe out of its two catering facilities at Dubai International Airport.

This facility is 3-floors high, with a total built up area of 50,000 SQ.M, and a foot print of 21,400 SQ.M. A large 5.9 meter high & 40 meter wide driveway runs through the center of the building allowing trucks to pass through. This driveway is covered by a combination of 40 meters of steel trusses and precast concrete slabs.

KEY CHALLENGES

• Several permits were required from the authorities regarding entry / exit of labors/staff / sub-contractors /any material / vehicles etc. as construction took place within a restricted premise next to the Dubai airport.

• Due to existing fence, limited access was available for the shifting of material and the movement of constructions machines. The existing fence needed to be removed and re-installed several times.
